Alternatives to Revenge

Love

Trust in God

Proverbs 20:22 "Do not say, 'I'll pay you back for this wrong!'..Wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you."

Revenge can be easily accomplished by having faith and trusting the Lord. As described in Proverbs 20:22, God will deliver his blessing to you if revenge is not being used. Don't use revenge and pay someone back for what they did wrong, just be patient and wait for Gods blessings.

Romans 12:19 "Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord."

God himself says that he will repay those who don't take action in revenge. It's his choice to repay you with his blessings, leave room for his wraith and good things will happen. It just comes to show that if you trust in God, his blessing will storm you in all good ways. TRUST!

Exhibit Love

Leviticus 19:18 "Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD."

Revenge is essentially the easy way. To act in a wrong way as acted towards you is just an easy outlet to getting what you think you deserve. Instead, the Lord preaches to love your neighbor for even if he(she) has done evil to you. Act as if how you would like to be treated, with love.

Luke 6:35 "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked."

If you do good to your enemy, your reward would be greater for that your enemy is evil. The Lord and society will accept you a lot more and would be considered "Most High". This means that God would look at you as "good", rewards will come to those as described as "Most High".

Exercise Forbearance

Matthew 5:38-41 "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles."

Use your evil enemy as a joystick, use him as your guide to God trust and love, use him as an icon to your good deeds. Do more for the enemy for your reward will be greater. The Lord will see you giving and he will see how you are using your enemy as a symbol of your belief. He will realize that by going that extra mile, you are trying to show how much you love and believe in God. God will then respect that and will reward you with his gifts and blessings.

Bless

Romans 12:14 "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse."

When you are being persecuted or not being treated the way you please, do not fight back with revenge, do not curse. Bless your persecutor and pray for he will ask for forgiveness. Show him how you bless him and let him reflect on your actions for he will do the same for future occurrences. Be a good symbol to others and do not curse and be cruel.

Overcome Others by Kindness

Proverbs 25:21-22 "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you."

If someone has faced you with a situation of evil and they want you to act upon it, use kindness to reveal your greatness. Or just give to others and show sympathy to those who are in need to show your kindness. Use them as a tool to reveal the good characteristics that you may obtain. Romans 12:20 also explains the same situation. It describes how your kindness will "heap burning coals on his head." Which essentially means that kindness can reveal how much you lovable and accepting you are.
